Donations are tax deductible in the U.S. as allowed by law. Many people are giving contributions to satisfy their RMD from their IRAs since charity contributions are no longer tax deductible if you take the increased standard deduction. RMD stands for required minimum distribution, which is the minimum amount of money that must be withdrawn annually from an IRA or other retirement account.
